Alfreda V. Davis
Interim Executive Director
National Council of Negro Women, Inc.
Alfreda V. Davis was appointed to serve
as the Interim Executive Director for the National Council of
Negro Women, Inc. by its Chair and President Emerita, Dr. Dorothy
I. Height. Ms. Davis comes to the organization from the public
sector, having served as Chief of Staff to the former Mayor of
Washington, DC, the Honorable Anthony A. Williams, where she
was the highest ranking woman in the Administration.
Ms. Davis
has had a distinguished career of public service. She is a recognized
expert in leading change and in achieving
performance turnarounds in troubled organizations. Ms. Davis
has served in executive positions in the United States Department
of Justice, and has held responsibility for the investigation
and prosecution of cases involving police misconduct and violation
of citizen rights, both in Washington, DC and California. As
a highly effective advocate of system reform, Ms. Davis was the
first African American woman appointed to an international board
of police oversight. Ms. Davis has directed budgets in excess
of $350 million and staffs as large as 5,000.
Ms. Davis holds
a law degree (JD) and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA).
She is also certified as a public manager
(CPM). Ms. Davis is a native Washingtonian.
