What kind of international work does NCNW do?
Why does NCNW still use "Negro" in its name?
NCNW's name reflects collective pride
in our heritage and in the roots of our organization, founded
in 1935, a time when to be a Negro was understood to be part
of a movement towards the educational upliftment and economic
advancement of our people. Our continuing use of the name (which
ultimately includes all Black people) - despite innumerable iterations
in nomenclature for American people of African descent - reflects
the awareness that what we call ourselves at any given moment
is less important than who we are and where we stand on the continuum
of time, in the context of our heritage, and in the development
of our people.

I have
renewed my membership. Why am I still receiving renewal notices?
Renewal notices are automatically
sent 4 months prior to your expiration date. Each member
will receive the first renewal 4 months before the expiration
date, and 3 more reminders - one at 2 months before the expiration
date, 1 month before the expiration date and one the month
of renewal. Sometimes our mailing and your renewal payment
cross in the mail. Renewing early, on the first notice,
will reduce the likelihood of receiving further notices. Note
that early renewals do not penalize you - your expiration
date will remain the same as long as we receive your renewal
prior to that date.
