The National Council of Negro Women, Inc. is the premier African American membership organization for women.
It is the only organization that focuses on how we, as African American women, can harness our power and potential to improve our own quality of life, help our African American community and aid our sisters in Africa.
Through the Dorothy I. Height Leadership Institute, our centers on health, economic empowerment and education, our advocacy work and our international programs, we are creating opportunities for leadership development, capacity building and empowerment.
We work with our members every day to achieve equality of opportunity and eliminate disparities, prejudice and discrimination based upon race, creed, color, sex and national origin.
NCNW represents over 25,000 members and contributors, and our 4 million affiliate partner members at the national, state and local levels, speaking out on issues of concern to our members including civil rights, equality and economic parity.
Benefits of membership include our Sisters newsletter, members-only area of the website, opportunity to join a local, community based section, invitations to exclusive events and, at certain membership levels, advance issues of NCNW publications and autographed copies of Dr. Height's biography. The biggest benefit of membership, however, is knowing that you belong to an organization of like-minded African American women which is advocating on your behalf.
Dr. Height says that empowerment is the most important gift we give ourselves. When we hear, but do not absorb the negatives, we are reminded of our strengths. Change comes not at the direction of a nation, but at the insistence of its people. The unity of membership drives that power.
Join with us and give us your strength, your courage, and your determination to help African American women achieve our full and impressive potential. Become a member today.
