Partnerships

The National Council of Negro Women, Inc. has partnered with the following organizations to help advance the goals of NCNW, specifically with the focus on health, economic empowerment and education for women of African descent.

One Shared World

NCNW has joined as a key partner in the One Shared World, a new national education campaign inviting American women to help tackle global poverty. One Shared World encourages women to learn more, connect more and do more to help their sisters in developing countries live better, healthier and more secure lives.

Focusing on health, education and economic progress, One Shared World aims to connect American working women to the many public and private efforts that help people in developing countries overcome poverty, hunger, illiteracy and disease. It highlights the similarities between American women and those in cities, towns and villages in every corner of the globe.

One Shared World encourages concerned women to support United States development assistance efforts, and demonstrates assistance efforts and the success of supporting progress across the globe. Educating girls, for example, helps to foster more resilient families, prevent diseases like HIV/AIDS and create better jobs that pay higher wages—making communities, societies, and the world we share healthier, safer and richer.

Along with NCNW, the partners in One Shared World include the American Association of University Women (AAUW), American Women in Radio and Television (AWRT) and the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO). The program is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and managed by the nonprofit Academy for Educational Development (AED).

NCNW will be sponsoring its One Shared World Community Workshop Forums entitled, “African American Women and Our Global Responsibility” in five cities across the nation. Please join us for our second One Shared World Community Workshop forum event in Atlanta, GA on Saturday, June 30, 2007. (more)
